Website sold for $750,000

The domain name website.com sold for $750,000, which I believe is the highest recorded sale price this year. I find it difficult to understand how a purchaser can justify that price with that name.

Seriously they are dumb! I started to buying mainstream sites lately and for that kind of cash you can buy like 70-100 of sites with high traffic and webmaster related if that is what they were looking for

Looks as if it's a hosting company that bought it. Maybe they feel it will bring in a load of new customers.

I tought it was someone aiming at webmasters market but price is just too high!
I saw recently webmasterboard.com on sale and it was priced from low x,xxx to high x,xxx and that would bring more customers than website.com

A lot of people put website.com into their tutorials in much the same way as domain.com is used. I guess they want those links and clicks, but it seems a high price to pay for them.

check the price he wants for it at the bottom of the main page; that would probably be the highest price ever paid for a domain if he gets it and he is not selling until he does

he also sold beef.com last year for $250,000

pretty good 16 dollar investments back in 1994
