I´ve found an interesting article about the dropping domain biz.
it´s outdated (2001) but I´ve learned something about it in general. I had no idea at all that it´s that crazy

so is there still a chance for the masses to get a dropped domain?
the article says something about VIP access, automated scripts and other advantages for a few persons. Did they found a way to prevent this or do I have to spend thousands of dollars to have a chance?

I´m curious about a 1-months subscription at droppeddomain\domainbot so does it make sense for a normal user like me?

It's changed a bit since then.

Some registrars are hanging onto names and running them through a pseudo-redemption period so that they never drop. They are also staggering the drops to make things harder to catch them. There are a few more tricks going on.

I can get direct access to the Verisign registry, and I keep meaning to write a program to do a bit of drop catching. I guess by the time I get round to doing it, WLS will be here and it will all be over.

so you would say it´s a waste of money for me to buy a 1month membership to see the dropped domains?

You are unlikely to pick up a $10,000 domain, but you should be able to find some $100 plus names. If you can work a domain so that it earns you more than $1 per month, then it's paying it's way, and some will earn more than that of course. I try to grab one or two word meaningful names, and they are almost all .coms. Other people have other ideas about names and go for three words or hyphenated domains. You need to go with whatever works for you I guess.

What if I see "sucessfull" (not bad alexa ranking and stuff) . net or .info domain, and .com is available should I grab it for parking?
