New SWITCH website for "Internet Domains"

SWITCH has redesigned the "Internet Domains" section of its website. You
can now register and administer domain names in a new-style, user-friendly
web zone, which also includes the information section.
You can access the new web zone as of 1 October 2005 at the usual location
of http://www.switch.ch/id

What has changed? Apart from the new design and new contents, the processes
and functions that are provided have been upgraded. Domain names can now be
registered in four simple steps, ensuring that even inexperienced users can
readily find their way around. Context-sensitive help and information make
for easier data input. After logging in, users will find themselves in a
list of their domain names, which also contains a great deal of other
useful information. This summary page also constitutes the starting point
for the administration of the domain names.

A basket has also been introduced as another new feature. This allows users
to search for different domain-name variants and register more than one
domain name at a time.

The new system is to be launched on 1 October 2005, when it will
necessitate a lengthy interruption of service as of 07.00, lasting
probably until 14.00. During this time, the "Internet Domains" section
of the SWITCH website cannot be accessed. It will not be possible to
register domain names, submit requests or conduct WHOIS queries.
Detailed information on the duration of the interruption will be posted
on our website on 1 October at http://www.switch.ch

SWITCH is anxious to receive ideas, feedback and customer wishes regarding
the new web pages. On Saturday, 1 October and Sunday, 2 October, you can
thus register domain names at a reduced rate¹ if you send us your feedback
on the new registration application by e-mail to feedback@switch.ch

In designing the new web zone, SWITCH has given consideration to the
requirements voiced by a whole range of user groups, as well as to
state-of-the-art technologies. We have made every effort to ensure that
