.info vs .com - Which one is better?

Hey,

First i must say that it is my first post at domain forum

Anyway lets think that i will make a site about cars.

When i tried to register car.com i saw that its already registered

But when i double check i saw that car.info is still not registered?

My question at that point is :

Must i register car.info or must i find another domain like mycar.com and register it?

Is there a difference between them? ( I mean at SE's)

p.s: i know that users tries .com first.

Hi and welcome to domainn forum.

Check out a little bit more old threads in domain forum an you'll probably find answers to your questions.
I'm quite new here but I learned it's best to go with .com
And car.info is already registered (would be surprise if it wasn't lol) so I guess you'll have to look for other domain (and go for .com

).

I would go with a .com alternative unless it's a 3 letter domain like you say

car.info is registered at 2000-06-09, and still active (havent looked at the site)

Maybe you need to use 'whois', which most domain registrars offer for free.

And in adult biz, .info = no good.

For se, I dont think it matters much.

Stick with .com , or your country's extension.

I know that car.com is already registered!I am not that much idiot!

It was just an example!!

I try to mean that if i want to register .com domain i must find some good domain name bcs car.com is already registered

but other other hand car.info is not registered and it is a good domain name except of .info

p.s:Just wanted to explain that car.com is just an example!I already know car.com is registered.And i know what is whois and how can i use it !

As they said it's best to go with .com unless .info is really, REALLY good 3 or 4 word domain.

Ok, because of the free 'info' domain actions, they where mostly used for spam and other bad things.

I wont trade a link/traffic with a .info, unless I know you.

And I think other webmaster do the same

stick with 2-3 words .com's...unless you *really* have done your homework and cannot find anything to work for the keywords you want.

I let all my infos drop for a couple of reasons. The free giveaway of a year ago attracted a load of scammers and spammers, so infos are banned on a lot of sites (just like biz

). Another reason is that they have no grace period for expiring domains, and they don't seem to look after registrants.

.com is so far ahead that I would say that an average .com is better than a good info.

Always go for a .com if you can. I think the only reason to choose another extension is for SEO.

Better to get a short .info than a long .com because most of them are taken.

Do you want worldwide visitors, or from your own country? Many consider usuing domains for their own country like for the UK, co.uk

Everytime I see .info I think of it being spammy.
