Do some research before you register your name

Apart from checking the counts and stuff like that, check to see what else has been registered. If the .nets and hyphens have gone, then you may pick up some traffic from their typos. Also check for plurals. I noticed that BlackArmpit.com had just dropped, and it gets some good counts but the plural gets more. When I checked, I discovered that www.BlackArmpits.com was unregistered, so I grabbed that instead of the singular.

Plurals aren't always the best, it's worth checking to see what the counts are, and also stopping to thing what the surfer is most likely to type into the address bar. Putting the phrase in quotes can stop you getting singular and plural lumped in together in some counts.
