"domain dropped and available again" any more infos?

I checked a domain at http://www.whois.sc
the .com dropped and is available again.

for 2 reasons:
the name is worthless
or
the domain owner forgot to renew it


can I get more infos about the dropping?
would be interesting how long the domain is free again.

Domains drop for a load of reasons - trustees still don't treat them as assets for example. So if a domain owner dies a $million name could be allowed to drop.

Sometimes they get missed as well, but it's getting less likely as more people jump onto the ownership bandwagon, and registrars run the good ones through a pseudo-redemption.

the domain I was looking for is a misspelled name which could work...maby...
but as it dropped somebody already tested it and maby dropped it because it didn´t worked.
so it would be nice to know how long the domain is available again.

Well a dropped name is available as soon as it drops, and if it's one you want you should grab it.

An expired name is one that hasn't been renewed, and could be dropped in around 70 days (with massive variations on that).

You can get an idea of it's worth by checking the alexa for the correct domain, and looking at wordtracker/overture for both the correct and incorrect spelling.

it only says:
"Deleted and Available again"

no search entries for the misspelled at overture
~100k searches for the correct letters

I think I´ll give this a try
