Will the Jagger Google update affect domain name prices?

The latest Jagger update to Google downgrades reciprocal links, and makes one-way relevant inbound links more important. Will this cause an increase in the registration of "relevant" domain names to allow site owners to improve their SEO?

google is strong but what if they change the benefit of linking domains to zero with the next update?

so there will be always somebody offering domains for only little more than $6 and I don´t think that google can change the whole market with "just" an update...

but...will you raise your price?

I won't increase the prices for registrations and renewals, but I may be more reluctant to sell domains that I've already registered.

Suppose that google starts to look at relevance a lot more closely. If you wanted to promote a big tits site called Big Naturally, wouldn't a link from a site with good big boobs text on it, and a domain name of Big hot boobs, give you a better and more relevant link than SouthWestTrains.com.

100% agree on relevancy!
it´s the top aim! it´s the idea of a search engine!
giving the surfer a site which is relevant to his search.

someday we will be at a point where the whois data will be compared with your linked domains.
a siteowner sitting 2miles away from the siteowner he links to will have some influence on the ranking.

just imagine you search for "pizza in new york" - two linked pizza shops with a whois data containing "new york" would give google or every other SE another factor they can use for their rankings and compare it for relevancy


and then it´s just a matter of time to see the spammers entering "freeporntown" in "hardcorepicstreet 21st" into their whois data

Some domain owners already put webmaster promo info in their whois data. I've got a sales site that I used to use. www.make-me-an-offer.com - it's one of the few occasions when hyphens are good. It's also time I put it back online.

I've stopped doing directly reciprocal linking a while back, and am already seeing an increase in traffic and revenue following the latest update. About 20% increase actually, so I'm happy.

This makes a lot of sense to me. Inbound links having more weight than reciprocal, I mean. I don't know that it will affect new registrations much. Older names ( domain creation date ) should count a little more too. Since it makes a lot of sense, these kind of things should be thought about and implemented on your sites before the engines get around to adding it to their ranking algorithms.

I'm considering pulling some sites back from parking programmes, and using them to help boost more important sites. I thought that if they were niche specific, then maybe I could run some adlinks or similar to pull back some of the lost parking revenue.
