Well given that Verisign introduced a system which was basically traffic theft, and would have disrupted the operation of the net, I think they have indicated that the management cannot be trusted to run such an important business. There has been a massive increase in the number of .coms registered, and this should allow them to reduce prices rather than increase them. I think that the .com registry should go to open tender.

7% a year for the next 4 years. Using $6.50 as a figure that means we could be looking at a $2 increase in current prices to registrars, which of course get passed along to us.

1 - $6.95
2 - $7.44
3 - $7.96
4 - $8.52

With 50+ million .com names, that's a nice EXTRA $100+ million per year.
