Well I did get a pm from the owner, but thanks for the KW

One of the vulnerabilities of .com domains is the fact that domains are "pulled" to the new registrar, so it isn't the owner that starts the process, it's the buyer. This leads to potential fraud when someone pretends to be the buyer. The English system used on .co.uks is for the owner to "push" the "tag" (which is the record of ownership) to the buyer's registrar. This is much safer, but can lead to delays if the losing registrar is reluctant to move.

I use the English system for my internal transfers, so nothing happens unless the recorded owner starts the process.

DFP rocks, I've been dealing with some other registrars and I'm getting really pissed of. One of them took 3 weeks to push a transfer from one account to mine and I'm trying to sell a domain I registered through Yahoo Domains and those asshats are telling me I can't transfer it

Well to be fair, I set up the service for Netponders, so transferring from one Netponder to another is a special case.

One thing you may not have realised is that the 60 day restriction on new registrations is for registrar transfers. Because I'm an authorised reseller, you can sell and transfer a name 5 minutes after you registered it if the buyer has an account with me (or opens one).

HB, I'm gonna PM you in the morning, I wanna transfer a domain that's expiring in 60 days and that's registered with my host to DFP and I'll PM you the details on the crap Yahoo is pulling on me. I should have known $2.99 .coms were too good to be true

I might see if there is a way to lean on registrars that won't release names. It often comes down to the contract you had, some hosts bundle the name in with the hosting and retain ownership that way. You're a bit stuck in that case.

But they have to open an account with you or ya can't change it for
what is it 30 days?
And you just push it not really transfer it tech wise..

It's a legal transfer of ownership, and recognised by ICANN and the courts. I agree that it's just a registrar push, and that's why I posted that it's a special case. The 60 day registrar transfer restriction applies to everybody, and it's a measure to help reduce fraud.
