Best solution to backorder many domains at the same time?

There are many domains (~50) that I'd like to backorder, but I don't want to pay the $15/year/domain that most sites seem to be asking for it.

Does anybody have a cheaper solution?

Backordering has changed a lot this year. A lot of registrars are hanging onto names, and then auctioning them. In this case, the only way you can get them is via the current registrars. Drop catchers seem to have got a lot more sophisticated when they are chasing the high value names as well.

If you really want a name, then I think you need to register interest with a load of services, but you can't do that for multiple names. If you've got the time, then it's worth monitoring the drop cycle and hand reg'ing them. It's hard to catch the good ones this way though.

thanks for your answer... well, will have to write a script that takes care of that automatically then (monitoring the expiring ones and emailing me so I can hand-reg them)

Most expired domain name services will register them before you get the chance, if they are half decent. They have multiple direct connections to the registration database and private deals with top registrars.

If you're looking for opinions on the matter I think chasing them is both
a waste of time and money being tied up that could be making money.
As been mentioned any domain worth having isn't going back on the market..
