Don't forget books when you're trying to think up names.
Several reference books are handy as well as a dictionary. One that I've found useful is Roget's thesaurus of English words and phrases.

I have registered some cool names some time ago searching for "nice" words in my English dictionary, so yes, I agree with your advice, those "tools" can help a lot when searching for new domain names.
