How do you promote mainstream???

I've been wondering how you would go about promoting mainstream as apose to adult? Getting traffic to your site, what kind of site would you start? where would you get the products and so on?? I've been thinking about this and wanted to get some ideas.. anyone.,?? thanks

I have been slowly delving into mainstream (don't want all my income coming from adult, just in case something happens) and promote somewhat the same way, heavy on text to get those SE hits.
And as far as what I have been promoting, Horoscope sites, webhosting, that sort of thing.
currently totally relying on SE traffic for my mainstream projects and it it doing pretty good.

you can try clickbank, shareasale, commission junction, and lots of other companies to promote.

As for getting traffic to mainstream sites the best way is to get backlinks, and to post on mainstream forums

I began with one site then kept building more and more. I've been putting up lots of mainstream feeder sites to get traffic to my main sites and so far, so good.

SleazyBear once asked what YOU buy online. I thought about it, realized I spent a lot of time looking for a specific article of clothing, saw there weren't a lot of viable alternatives in Google, so made my own site.

It depends on what you are looking to get into. I have a few bricks and mortar interests, these bricks and mortar interests do not sell anything, they provide a service in my home town so hitting the key phrases is much simpler. For example, you open a hair salon in New York it is easier to get on page one of Google for 'Hairdressers New York' than it would be if you sold hair spray.

My first suggestion would be to pay $19.00 and get a link on Best Of The Web. They have a lot of PR4 and PR5 categories so straight away you get one inward without wasting an outward link.

My second suggestion would be open an eBay store in the same name as your site, make sure you have plenty of auctions and treat your auction description as you would a web page. Lots of nice descriptive keywords, I just quickly typed "jvc stereo for sale" into Google and ebay listings occupied the top two slots.
