Question for people familiar with adsense

I am starting a mainstream blog at http://www.celebritynewsuk.com/ . It is still under construction so don't expect it to look great just yet

Anyway, could somebody tell me why adsense isn't picking up the theme of the site and offering generic stuff instead?

If you've only just added adsense, it can take a few days for the bots to spider your site so they know what ads to show.

It could also be a lack of relevant ads in your category. There are ways to get your ads on track, start searching at digitalpoint forums.

on the subpages that aren't blog format there are relevant ads..I was wondering if it was something to do with the theme that wasn't being read properly

I had one doing the same thing, and emailed Google for help and they made an adjustment which fixed it.

I've worked with adsense for over a year. usually adsense picks up keywords within the site, then uses them for the ads, check your keywords to see where the ads are coming from, then either move the adsense blocks, or try to put some celebrity keywords beside of it. If you want, you can take a look at one of my mainstream sites to see how I did it. http://courtrecords.thumblogger.com/ there is a link block right above the title of the blog, or look at the blocks on my other site in the footer on this other mainstream blog I have http://memories.thumblogger.com/

usually I don't have a problem at all...i tried creating a new channel and putting a new block in and I have added more actual text in that sidebar but it just isn't happening..I will try text above the block to see but just feels odd. It has been on that page for days and always generic.

Yes, Sarah, the help link inside the Adsense area. I email them every so often and they get back to me in a day or so. Last time I had put up a blog and even after a week, the ads showing were about hosted blogs, RSS feeds and dating sites, when the name of the site dealt with coffee

First of all Sarah .... you are not doing yourself any favors with that HUGE title ...

Try to keep titles as short and direct as possible ... and if the title targets the same ONE primary keyword phrase that your article does, it is much better. your title should not go over 65 characters ... but under 40 is even better.

Aso try using adsense suggestion tags -- you can tell the mediapartners bot what part of your site you want it to target.

I ended up emailing them and they were very helpful and pretty much we agreed between us that there was something up with the old theme that was keeping it from being read properly. So, I changed it to another theme.

As far as the title..longer titles have worked well for me on other sites but I will have a look at it.

Celebrtiy and Adsense can give you lot of celebrity "links" that people click!

I've always found them extremely helpful when you email, maybe a little slow, but they always are polite and seem to give the correct info, unlike so many other companies.
