So I sets up an adwords campaign for a 2 letter search term that NO ONE else has bid for. NO ONE. Not one single ad.

Great, I thinks, I bid £0.01 (I did it in pounds) and chucked in a few spelling mistakes too.

Ads not running. Checked out the keyword list, they are inactive unless I 'improve the quality' or up my bid to £0.05. Well, there is no quality involved, the term is exactly how I want it, so I up it to £0.05 and all say active.

Still no ads appearing, yet all is active and should be working. So I send an email to Google, and within 24 hours, I go back to my adwords account, and I've had 3 clicks BUT the keywords are inactive again. So I check this out:

The cheeky sods want me to up my bid to £0.20 !

So I'm not doing it, so they are losing out really 'cos noone else has bid on this search term, it's money for nothing for them really.

Oh Well.

Yeah, but I'm thinking if I bid £0.20, then they'll just turn round tomorrow and put it up again to £0.30 or something!

OK, so I emailed Google about this and I have to say I am very impressed by all the support they offered my and all the information they sent! I was expecting to be told to get lost, or even ignored, but their response has proved me wrong.

However, I found this very interesting:

My ad campaign is marked on their system as 'PORN'.

This is a legitimate marking for a campaign, and they will allow it to run! I thought that they did not allow porn of any description (its a grey area what I'm doing, I would not call it porn although it is slightly more adult oriented).

So, you can't put porn on adwords, but they flag some as porn and let it run anyway.

You learn something new every day!

Where all your keywords porn related or just a few?And did they say those keywords influented the price of all the keywords? otherwise you might do two seperate campaigns.
