Newbie mainstream question

As a relative newbie, I'm sure this is faulted somewhere. But in a very general sense: Assume I were to build a link directory to sites about widgets and then load it up with Adsense and other CPC advertising and one CPM exit console. If I then bought widget specific traffic at $3/1000 hits, I could probably turn a profit with even a pretty bad CTR on the CPC advertising.

Where am I faulty in this logic, because I must be missing something crucial... or else everyone would do this

Here is the problem with your logic ... $3/1000 hits I guarantee you is popup traffic, which is as dirty as TGP traffic, and often not at all targeted.

If you want to throw away your money, I'll set up a $3 weekly subscription button in paypal for you ....

At least you will have the satisfaction that your money is being put to good use (for me!)

Seriously ... CPM needs alot of traffic to make anything worth talking about.

Same deal goes for mainstream brokered traffic as with adult for the most part. If the traffic was valuable, do you really think the brokers would be unloading it at bargain prices?

You can better focus on building up a network of your own sites via free traffic sources than to buy traffic..

DON'T buy popup traffic or sell to or from your site if its mainstream.. its sudden deat for so much traffic wich could be returning - freaky boys who want to spank there monkey can accept popups on adult sites, but for mainstream its a "bad word"
