I have just started using hubpages for adult stuff and wondered if anyone had experience of using it for non adult topics??

I've heard success with mainstream promo on hubpages.com but if you can swing it, try squidoo also for mainstream. I hear they do great if you know how to use it. Personally I haven't had luck with Squidoo in adult or mainstream, but had decent traffic coming in on Hubpages for my adult. Just searching through on mainstream topics it looks like there is a lot of activity at Hubpages however. If nothing else it's great for backlinks.

I did tried for some celebrity stuff. A lot of views but not so much clicks to sponsor so I guess I done something wrong probably.

I've done great with Hubpages for mainstream and that's mostly what I use it for. $42 in Adsense this month and a bunch of Clickbank sales. I say go for it. I've done well with Squidoo for affiliate offers, but their own revenue-sharing is dismal compared to hubpages.

Yep, I maintain separate accounts. You certainly don't need to, but I just prefer to keep my adult and mainstream work completely separate.

Also the difference between Squidoo and Hubpages is the use of it although you have more options on Squidoo i prefer Hubpages because they are easier to work with for some strange reason

I prefer working with Hubpages as well. What I do generally is anything where I expect adsense to be the main earner, I post it to Hubpages. If I'm pushing affiliate offers hard I usually use Squidoo mainly so I can post in CJ links with the graphics, etc. It is a huge pain that you cannot make photos clickable on Hubpages.

I think there are pros and cons to both and wish they could put some of the features of the two together. For example, being able to make pictures clickable at Hubpages would be nice. Squidoo seems pretty strong with Google for the mainstream that I've discovered but I have a hard time with them. Hubpages is much easier to use, especially for adding text links etc without using code. I see a lot of traffic leak potential with Squidoo since there are so many ads being displayed.

Either way, I'm with everyone else and sticking with Hubpages for now. My pages get a lot of views but I don't get much click thru to my sponsor, so this is probably due to my marketing, but it's making progress.

Nice thread everyone, glad to hear how you are doing with Hubpages and Squidoo!

You can help cut down on the traffic leaks on Squidoo if you UnMax your pages. They all default to "Maxed". When you are in edit mode, take a look at the right hand side where your profile is and scroll down to the checkbox that says "Maxed". Uncheck that box and then hit "Publish". This will change your pages to two columns instead of 3 columns and severely cutdown the number of traffic leaks. There's still a ton compared to Hubpages, but it won't be nearly as bad.

I strongly recommend using article marketing to drive traffic to both Squidoo and Hubpages. You will get more traffic and more clicks to your sponsors. Additional outside traffic will also increase your internal rankings at both sites which means more internal traffic as well.

if you use CJ links on squido you should add squido pages to your site portfolio in CJ admin area. Do you need to add only squido.com or all the lenses separately?

I don't even bother tracking CJ sales that closely, but I believe you can add SIDs to your tracking links so you'll know exactly what lenses they are coming from.

hmm the reason is one : If you do not add url to your site list in CJ admin panel you won't get credit for those links. For example I have domain1.com and domain2.com listed in my profile. And if I put CJ links on domain3.com which is not included in my profile I will get nothing from those links. Normaly you just add domain like squido.com and thats it, just wanted to make sure if they do not treat each lens as new site. They have some strange policies, just wanted to be safe

Yes, but you don't add every single subfolder on those domains do you? Do you have to put domain1.com/subfolderhere/index.html I really don't think so.

All I know is that when the folks from Hubpages told us to sign up, they just said put hubpages.com as the domain so I would think that would work just as fine with squidoo.
