I'm looking to make a little extra cash doing some mainstream stuff, I've been reading alot about "Bum marketing", and sites that pay for articles that are approved, like http://www.associatedcontent.com...anyone use any of these services?

I think you're much better off directing your bum marketing at affiliate offers rather than using it to get paid from places like Helium or Associated Content. Pick a Clickbank product, set up a Squidoo page or hubpages for it and write articles that you can submit to Ezinearticles.com (which is what Travis recommends).

Ezinearticles won't pay you, but they let you attach links to your articles and that will make you much more money. Right now, I have 9 articles published at Ezinearticles and I've already made $341 from Clickbank, just over $42 from Adsense (all from hubpages )and $16 from Copeac . My first ezine article was accepted less than a month ago.

You will have to write dozens of articles to make that kind of money from AssociatedContent or Helium.

I just did the math. With AssociatedContent paying out an average of $4 per article, you'll have to write 99 articles to make what I've made writing 9 articles for Ezinearticles instead and using those to drive traffic to my other pages.
