Does anyone run a mailing list for profit?

I was thinking about putting together a simple one page website where people could sign up for a mainstream daily mailing list like "Free funny headlines in your email once a day" or "Free jokes in your email once a day" etc.

To get people to register I would run an adsense ad "Get funny headlines in your email daily" and hope to make a decent conversion.

Once the list had atleast a few hundred people I would see sponsored links/plugs in the email to webmasters.

Does this sound feasible?

what you could do is offer a free ebook and have a box there to get an opt in mailing list. It's called viral marketing, it should work maybe

Email marketing "joke of the day" will hit most free mail boxes as spam... and through experience I have found that to really grow your mailing list ya need to show them exactly what they are gonna get on daily,weekly, or whatever basis to gain trust.

Nowaydays it aint easy for email collection due to so much spam out there...

Niche related email marketing like consumer targeting works very well... good luck on your venture...

The only way you will find out is to combine all the bits and pieces of advice and make a page and try it out....

Thanks for the suggestions. Does anyone know of any CPC program that will allow email advertising?

Also a suggestion to use aweber for your list management. White listed and you get a load more in hits compared to other tools/programs.
