Here is a sweet Blacklist I found at PerishablePress that will help you stop a majority of the offenders stealing your content with site rippers, grabbers, spammers and bad bots.

The second Blacklist stops HTTP_REFERER, credited to Joe Maller

Putting that list on most adult sites is NOT a good idea. First thing I noticed is it blocks Wget. Wget is the most common utility used by linux servers to check pages. If you block it, TGP's, Linklists, and other scripts won't be able to access your site to verify things they need to verify and probably get you blacklisted.

It's also blocking referrers with adult words in their domain, so that's gonna kill any kind of traffic or link exchanges between many sites.

Not only does it make special exceptions that adult sites will need, but thanks to some help from Raymor from Strongbox, it has been tuned so that it won't create such load increase as the one posted in the mainstream forum.

Before anyone uses any kind of htaccess stuff like this, you should read up on how modrewrite and other htaccess directives work and make sure you understand what you're putting on your site. You can quite easily block large portions of the world from your site with just one wrong line in there.
