There isn't any good free hosting for mainstream. In fact mainstream free hosting is normally worse than adult free hosting.

However there is atspace.com , heartinternet.co.uk, awardspace.com and x10hosting.com

The above are fairly good when it comes to free hosting.

Well in fact it doesn't have to be good, I just need to try few things which are not worth buying domains, thx I'll try these.

I do a lot of work on a friend's website, which is based on x10hosting. Very good service, and for an ad-free system, not too slow!

They subsidise their free/ad-free, with an ad-supported service, which gets a hike in disk space, and also a paid up service. As a free host, in terms of service, client support and technical, I have not found any better.

Just gone back to the post, if it is just to try something, why not download an Apache/SQL/PHP package, and install it on your machine? Then bump everything on to that, and test locally?

I wasn't taking much notice the other day (trying to do too much in too little time!) and if I had read the thread correctly this is what I would have suggested. Depending on what OS you run on your local machine, your package would be slightly different, but it would save lots of time on FTP!

I would think that running LAMPP/XAMPP services on their local computers would be a rather complex endeavor for most new to novice webmasters.
