If anyone needs help with open x, I know a lot about it just email me. Remember you need a publisher setup for each and every diffrent ad your serving else the banners won't show on your pages, meaning if your ads are 468x60 banners, your publisher area must reflect the same banner sizes else they will not show.
For example: You setup 468x60 banners in the inventory area, you must then goto the publisher area and setup the same. Also each time you add a banner to your inventory you must go over to the publisher area and click on the "linked banners" and update that ad group else the newly added banners will not show in the network. It's also a good idea to run backups of your data base every time you add your banners else if your host shuts down, and needs to re-install your account they might run an old backup of your account and you will have lost everything current in your OpenX. OPen X is easy to install, you do not have to edit any config files, all you have to do is chmod the files they ask while installing. If your having a bunch of problems getting it to install, and you need help and setup, please email me over at my site and I will help you. Here is a mistake anyone can make, install open X for each website, don't run it from 1 site and host ads on your diffrent sites because it will slow down on you a bit. It is made to do a lot for you however nothing is perfect. |

i think one of the great benefits of this software is the fact you can manage ads for multiple websites... hardware can play a factor, yes.. if you have large amounts of traffic and are using OpenX, invest in quality harddrives, to reduce bottle neck in "writes/reads". if a webmaster here using OpenX is experiencing a real slowdown due to heavy traffic using the software, check out the community forum and ask questions.. great resources there. also, in the coming releases of OpenX, you should be able to (enable/disable) specific functionality of the maintenance process (which is known to be a resource hog). peace |

you would enter each of your websites as a "publisher" and create a zone on each called something like "bottom of page". Then create a "advertiser" for each sponsor and a banner (even text links are called banners), you link the banners to the zone and they rotate. Sounds like lots of work and it is for just links on the bottom of a page... but when you want to place banners and other ads on many spots on hundreds of sites and then a sponsor changes the link - takes one click to change a lnk. __________________
