What are they....?
Travel? Ringtones? Music Downloads? DVD Rentals? Shopping? Gardening? Sports Betting/Gambling? Can someone please enlighten me as to what the top mainstream niches are.... I mean, what is hot right now? what is everyone into? What types of sites are getting tons of traffic? Thanks in advance, and yes, there is a purpose to knowing the answer to this... |

Popular how? in terms of searches on SE's? in terms of return visitors? and what are niches anyway? Some of the largest and most popular sites are not topic-specific.

I would suggest you target a niche that is NOT popular, less competition

I am just trying to figure out what Mainstream Topics to write some samples about, thats all. Figure, If I wrote smples on the more popular ones, would get more interested customers since there would probably be webmasters from those niches/categories on here that could view my samples. The most popular subject will vary on the season. For example at the moment there are all these people deciding what to do in their garden, so home and leisure is the thing. May/June everyone who hasn't planned a holiday will be looking at travel destinations and countries. Days and and places to go will be a big thing in July/August.
So cover a few subjects like home and leisure, travel, film and entertainment. On Netpond theres people that have sites/blogs in all subjects. For me my subject is Celebrities and Entertainment. __________________

All niches you listed are popular enough to make lots of money. I don't think you absolutely have to choose the most popular. Just choose the niche you think you have the best chance against the competition.

Ah... samples.
Maybe write something you're good at? Otherwise if you're providing a writing service, you should be writing about not hot niches instead. The reason is most webmasters that are buying articles are trying to target niches that doesn't have too much competition. For example "insurance" is hugely in demand and high paying but the competition (408,000,000 in Google) means it's almost impossible to get any traffic for it so not many webmaster will invest getting articles for it. However if you wanna display your writing skills how about hooking me up a 500 words one on student loan consolidation? lol |
