Starting a forum...
Hey how u doing? listen i have the idea of create a website... with forums of a lot of categories, articules about all those categories and things like that... to make a nice community.. i also want to give some prizes and make some championship of something.. but this will be when the community grow.
I'm writting to ask everybody wich advices can u giveme to make a forum grow up? the most difficult part is getting memebers at the first.. how can i do that? Thnx Santi |

I give prizes on my mainstream forum, next comp will give away a digital camera, the comp after a dvd player etc.
Prizes don't have to be expensive but they definately get people posting. In the UK you can pick up DVD players for less than £15 ($30) One competition we gave away handmade chocolate from a specialist choc shop and that did really well. __________________

I've had one up for 10 years now and it's not easy to get people to join, post and stay and keep posting. Offering freebies works but then they take the prize and run.
You have to give them something unique and make sure the women who post are real! __________________

that rent a troll site is funny
i suggest you dont start too big and find you have topics etc that lack content its going to be hard work to get this all started (with my adult forum i spent a month everyday for 3 hours finding and posting content) but now my members run it with posting and i just keep the peace and am going to be adding alot of money making sponsored content now. May i suggest you run a forum maybe to start with on a topic of personal interest or hobby so that maybe you can help your members in that area. Or an area that you know alot about I think for a first forum and maybe even first site a large forum with alot of topics and categories is a big challenge for one person and with a lack of experience... but if thats what you want to do good luck to you and i really hope it all works out (keeps us informed) |

jeje.. thnx for your comments... i have expeirience doing webs.. but i never do a forum.. so thats why i don't know how to attract people to join in.. i think i will try... i hope this work jeje

managing a forum is really a hard task espeially when looking for members. start first with your online friends then try to post interesting stuffs and you must constantly do it so that people there won't get board. post something interesting and worht talking about.

I'd like to start a forum too, linked on a content site which receives around 300 uniques per day. I have 2 people sending me at least 3 emails per week too, and I receive about 10 emails from the contact page per week. Those numbers have to be roughly divided by two as it's bilingual. Do you think the forum could start "by itself"?
How many posts should I prepare before launching it? (thinking about doing it in advance to feed it regularly) Any experienced idea is welcome  |
