Could you leave Adult behind?

hey ponders'

for those of you involved in both adult and mainstream marketing (aka web-mastering), would you or could you leave adult alone and focus solely on mainstream?

the factors could be $$$ related, or personal satisfaction i guess.

i see my adult-related sites being $$$ feeders for mainstream projects; with them (adult sites) being phased out (sold) over time.

what about you?

yes, same for me.. and in my case that is a result of not pushing it hard, and not thinking fully out of the box with ideas.

I was doing well-ish with amazon and another sponsor nothing spectacular but sales were increasing, then this month, zero, zip nada. Can't say I've pushed them very hard, but I did put some effort in. I hope it's just a statistical bump

so far i have no intentions to leave adult. in future i might focus on other revenue streams, but probably i will always have adult as one of my revenue streams.

it's funny to think on how much adult web-marketing has playing a significant part in teaching myself and many others about marketing on the net in general, right?

when i do break-off from adult, will i return? aaaah who knows.. i do like my fetishes! lol

I in general feel the same way as PornBlogger. My adult $$$ was to in time fund my mainstream. I find myself working more on one and not the other most of the times. I do like doing adult very much. The learning never stops I try to put that gained knowledge into mainstream.

Mainstream is what I love the best adult is just a pastime really, it may earn money, but it's really only an extra income earner rather than something I love.

building sites and coding was a "past-time", but not anymore.. it's about earning that "paaaapah!"

the sites i build are a service, currently "entertainmet". that's what i love, building sites that people enjoy "using".. i need to improve upon my design skills, but functionality is on point with minor fixes.

what is it about mainstream site building that you enjoy?

Many of my mainstream sites are celebrity or model based. So it's the fact that every day is different, I have to research, write, get hold of information, obtain permission to use images etc. It's so more involved than just logging into a sponsors site and getting images and videos.

With mainstream I don't place my site in loads if directories, don't do link exchanges etc, I'm in complete control.

i definitely feel in control of my sites, and when your users generate content for you.. that's king, you can re-publish that instead of relying on feeds from other places.

i have two modeling related sites myself, that need more attention.. lol, poor babies!

i need to put my adult sites on autopilot, giving me more to build mainstream.

hey there

i think buying an established site can be good or bad, depending on a few factors:

[good reasons]

- making money
- low overhead
- etc, etc

[bad reasons]

- it is established and draining money due to daily upkeep.
- you have no clear plan to keep the site growing, established.
- it's a site you have no idea how-to market.
- etc, etc

a quick stab at that

Mainstream needs a lot more time and effort to become profitable, but usually it's a lot more interesting and fun to do. Adult for me is much easier to make money, I mean come on where else can you just sell a product the surfer is looking for, that's the whole point in adult. That is such a no brainer to me lol, probably just throwing shit at the wall, that's why i'm making money.

I do have to say I've made more money this way and spent less time and brain power each day then trying to come up with original articles about the things i'm interested in doing my mainstream blog.

I put adult on the back burner about 3 years ago and went into mainstream full time, (quit the ole day job and everything). Adult is a great place to learn and make money and if you can succeed in adult you can whip mainstreams ass.

I still have a trickle coming in from old adult sites. It's so true the you just keep building and after awhile you get sales from stuff you did a year ago every month!
