Most Saturated Mainstream Biz ?

A few people have already mentioned they'd like to make a start in the mainstream biz, and I thought it would be worth going through which mainstream sites are saturated. This was asked on a mainstrea forum I post on, and it's something worth taking note of.

As with adult, if there's too much competition and you don't have a unique angle, you're not going to get anywhere.

Common sites are:

Hosting
Casino / Sports Betting
Ringtone
Graphics and Tutorials
Directories
Forums

Anything else you see a lot of ?

In 1999, 96 million cellphones were sold. In 2004, the number of annual cellphone sales hit 250 million. By 2008, market analysts have forcasted that over 794 MILLION CELLPHONES anually will be purchased, making cellphones the LARGEST EVER CONSUMER ITEM PURCHASED IN THE WORLD!!!

Is the market saturated ?? HELL NO it has barely even scraped the tip !!

Not to be smug about it, but I have made more from mobile phone content in the past 10 months than I have made prolly in the past 7 years in adult.

I guessed you'd say something like that. I suppose saturated might not have been the right word.

Too many people get started on the web and they choose one of very few subjects, either because they like it, or because they think they'll get rich quick. I suppose I'm just trying to encourage people to create something a little original.

I totally disagree ... but if you want to believe it, go right ahead. That'll make one less person the pie has to be devided amongst!

The only "AS WITH ADULT" here is that if there is already alot of competition, just means you have to work harder ...

There are too many people looking for large bank rolls that are afraid of actually working for it IMHO.

If you can get enough PPL to support your original idea, you CAN ride the gravy train all the way down Easy Street to the bank!

I saw something the other day that is absolutely brilliant, and will make somebody very rich. CRYSTAL LIGHT drink crystals has come out with individual sachets of their product, that are premeasured for bottled water!

In this day and age of health fanatics and bottled water everywhere we turn, I am positive this is going to be HUGE !!! Something so fucking simple!! I only wish it had been ME to think of this!

Doesn't mean you can't make a fortune doing it, but tons of people are already trying.

I wouldn't really call gambling mainstream, but that is pretty crowded. You can still make $ doing it, but not that easy IMO. http://www.casinoaffiliateprograms.com

You should make a mediaplazza site in addition to whatever else you do- here's mine http://www.spicyphones.com - took me not even 2 hours using the PHP kit. You don't even have to know PHP, I just followed the docs.

If you check out WebmasterWorld, or Geekvillage. they've had this conversation about what is oversaturated.

blinky, offline there are a TON of real estate agents...doesn't mean someone who just got licensed can't make money and be better than whoever is on top.

Oversaturated really shouldn't refer to how many people are doing it but how vicious they are about their market. Like I wouldn't open a car manufacturer and try to compete with GM- I would say 'automobiles' are heavily oversaturated. But there are a lot of prostitutes too, and there's always room for more, so I wouldn't say prostitution is oversaturated.

That analogy didn't exactly work out how I planned heh, but you get the idea.

I didn't say it wasn't hot or there's no money in it, but it's unquestionably oversaturated. There are a *ton* of cookie-cutter pay per lead sites out there and bidding the PPC keywords into the $5+ range.

Remember, it is much easier to make $50 one hundred times, then it is to make $5000 once

facial would you argue that its hard for just anyone to go into cellphones and make substantial profits? isn't THAT at least market more or less too competitive; cause i would expect more people to go straight to the phone companies websites and skip affiliates altogether, whereas in porn affiliates are more essential by default...

I am an ANYBODY. I don't piss gold, or shit platinum. Making money in mobile is not a secret society like the FreeMasons

I have 20+ affiliates out of my 100+ who are making enough with mobile to pay their rent each month. I think the real problem is laziness and unrealistic expectations that lead to failure, in not just mobile, but in almost any affiliate program.

Know that you are not going to make a substantial amount of money your first month, nor your second ... Hell for your first several months, you may not make as much as your little brother is at McDonalds even ...

But with a solid gameplan, and a supplimental income to tie you over while you establish your business, I guarantee you your year end will be several times more than his!

I hate to be so blunt, but if you are FLAT FUCKING BROKE without a dime to your name, hoping that the adult internet (or mainstream) is going to solve your financial crisis, you are very disillisioned!

This is a business, like any other, and there is going to be both financial and time investments needed to take it anywhere beyond hobby status. If you are looking to do everything for NO COST, or likewise if you expect to make a substantial paycheque one or two months into it, you are a fool! There are no free rides on the gravy train, and those who are prepared, and are willing to invest the time, money, discipline and common sense into their business, will be the ONLY ones who succeed.

Webmasters are the best excuse makers known to man! 90% of you would rather cry about the dismal size of your cheques, (if you even got one ...), than to take the steps neccesary to mae sure your next one is larger. I am tired of those who breed negativity! You are only going to get out of life what you put into it.

I am not going to get all spiritual on you here, but if you truely want to become better webmasters, you should study TAOISM ... and I am 100% serious here! I am not telling you to follow Taoism devoutly, but it will teach you a great deal about everything in the universe - your health, your relationships (personal, professional, and casual), your finincial health, your happiness, and about every element of life as we know it all depends on proper balance. I owe a great deal of my success to understanding things on a deeper level, and this began when I first started reading Taoism.

I am not preaching to you, but instead giving you a very intimate insight as to what I attribute my successes to. You can choose to do nothing with this info, or you can tell yourself that just in case facialfreak may be onto something here, I am going to research this a little bit. Your next move is up to you.

One problem with going to your phone carrier's website is PRICES ...
I have seen carriers charge up to $12 for a single game download, and they have a selection of anywhere from 8-20 games.

MyCustomFone.com boasts 120+ of the hottest games on the market, at $2.99 each.

Do you still see no need for affiliates? Consumers do!

If your cellphone lets you download games through 'getitnow' like Verizon does, there's a monthly free for them too- unless you wanna waste your $ upfront. It's also a bitch to cancel, cuz I've done it. Definitely cheaper and people will be turned off by that once it becomes more popular how much cheaper you can get the same quality game.

I'd say 65-70% of all my sales are java/flash games ... The price difference from almost ANY other provider makes for an EASY sale! ONLY MEDIAPLAZZA does the volumes to be able to offer games at this price ...

I exploit the fuck out of the fact that mobile carriers are raping the consumer. Most of the people I talk to are OUTRAGED when I tell them how cheap my games are, as I am handing them my business card

This is my business, and I treat it as such ... I have business cards on me wherever I go, because I never know when I am gonna meet a guy with 1 million unique hits daily, who is looking for a new sponsor ...

If I see somebody playing a game on their phone, I'll ask them what game they are playing ... and if it is any good, and where they got it ... I create small talk ...

After they have told me how cool their game is for 2-3 minutes, I'll ask them how much they paid ... When they tell me I make a face like "HOLY SHIT DID YOU EVER GET TAKEN FOR A RIDE!!" (I stand in front of my mirror in the mornings and I practise this face ...), and then I tell them that I sell this game and over 120 others for $2.99 each, and they OWN the game. I put my business card in their hand, as I am telling them about my site in 100 words or less.

By the time this has transpired, I am their newest best friend, and they are none the wiser that they have just been sold! And I guarantee you that kids who play games on phones hang out with other kids who play games on phones, so they are going to be top dog tomorrow, by telling all their friends about this site where they can get $2.99 phone games!

If I am at Wendy's, and I hear some guy/girl's phone ring, and it's playing CANDY SHOP , then I will approach them AFTER they finish the call, and say I love their ringtone, find out where they got it (alot of times still IS their phone carrier in Canada and the US), and how much they paid. I make the same "practised" face, and tell them about mycustomfone.com in 100 words or less as I give them my card.

I am an opportunist by nature. If you are not, you need to re-program yourself to be!!

I talk to people about my business EVERY DAY! And I get my card in the hands of the ones I am pretty sure will visit my site (the ones with CANDY SHOP ringtones, or that I see playing games). This method of advertising was perhaps one of the BEST for many years before the internet came around, AND DOES STILL WORK!

What have you really got to loose?

FF, you really do take your marketing seriously. !

I like internet biz because you don't need to get out there and infront of people to do business, but I've been talking to people and it's amazing what they pay for ringtones and the like.

I personally got a datacable and do it myself, does mediaplazza have anything like that to offer ?
