there's more to that page besides the free search thing..I like the poll and free for all links.I'm currently looking at their astrology thing because it seems to be popular.

Kamilla,its hard to see whats so good about the free plugins if you don't need them for your site..I'm sure whomever is looking for one of them to add for their visitors will appreciate that link

That site is a ripoff IMHO. Why use their Plugin SearchTool and send them traffic for free, when you can use one of many ppc se's (mine included) that will pay you for your clicks?
For example; currently my highest bid is $3.60. I pay my affiliates 70% of the bid price. That means that an affiliate can earn up to $2.52 per click. And I offer plugins so you can add a search box and search results on your own pages and the surfer won't know the search results is generated by me - just like they do on that site.

All their other tools; polls, boards etc are pretty much static and you can get those for free at hotscripts.com and not having to have a link back or whatever to their site.

Ok,you've given us your 2 cents..here are my 2 cents.

I like the site and what they offer.I havent had any problems with them and unless I encounter some problem with them,I will recommend them.If ANYONE wants to use them,thats their choice,if they don't want to use them,thats their choice too.

I know this isnt the best example out there but its the only one I can think of right now so..do you think google is a rip off?I see their box on so many site and I know the owners (the ones I know of personally) aren't getting paid for the searches performed.They own the sites,they know they can get results they will be paid for but they chose to add a non paid search box..their site,their decision.I'm glad though you got a chance to plug your site.

On that note,I'd also recommend Matt's Script Archive

Also,I don't see anything wrong with having a link back to someone..especially if they are giving you something free.

I guess what it comes down to is this..you don't like it,don't use it.

Yes, I think adding a google search box is IMHO a poor choice, when there are tons ppc se's to choose from, that are happy to pay you for your traffic. But if someone prefers to give their clicks away, that's their choice.

No, I don't see anything wrong giving a link back for free content. I use some plugins myself and they all come with a link back.
But since you recommended this site, I just wanted to let people know that these scripts are available free at other sites with no link back or ads. But most of all that ppc se's will pay top dollars for using their search results instead of their free search engine. And it's the so-called free search engine that I think is the ripoff on that site.

Hope you don't take this personally. I'm just giving my view of that site.

I would recommend a site that I have found useful anyday.I didnt mention hotscripts because despite the fact that its common,I have personally never used it.Matt's and hotplugins,I have used and recommend.If anyone has any thoughts or any other script/plugin freebie site to add to the thread,please feel free

I have used hotscripts. I like it. I also have to try sourceforge.net it has some nice stuff there. Not all of it is for web, but it has quiet a bit for webstuff. Thanks for saying some great sites for adding to websites. Hotscipts have some somethings that you have to pay for which is a bummer. I do not want to pay for something right now unless I know if it is worth it.
