How long to get more expensive Adsense ads?

If you have a legit site with real content how long does it usually take to get more expensive ads via Adsense?

Assuming you're not targeting any outrageous keywords like mesothelioma or anything, like on the overture bidtool the top bid is ~$1.

Would it takes a couple months before you got more expensive ads there? Assuming good behavior and no click fraud.

thanks

Don't chase the expensive Ad's! But do your hardest to make sure that the Ad's showing match exactly what your traffic was looking for.

Target, target target

what would you suggest the threshold be?..........I mean would you not target anything under 15cents, 10, 5?

Or as long as there is ads, and traffic, it is all good to target?

Well that's why I made a point of saying I wasn't going for outrageous keywords...but for a keyword that is $1 for the highest bid, shouldn't the clicks be worth a little more than a couple pennies?

They're pretty relevant now...but will I eventually get higher paying ads down the road within this keyword?

Is the trick to build lots of sites for low paying keywords? I know you can't expect to be paid when going after $20 keywords...but there must be a way to make 30-40 cents a click with Adsense, no?

thx

There are plenty of 'keyword lists' on the web. My highest click was for RAM, at least it should have been because all the ads were showing for RAM that day (on a personal blog). It was $1.50 or something IIRC.

I've heard other hardware, software, hosting , domain prices are similar.

adsense is content relevant and will generate ads based on your context and as well images within a site.

My click thu rate is always steady at 20%, terms with lots of traffic tend to have a lower cost per click, but even at 5c per click there is good $$$ as long as you have the click thu rate. Also look at what country your traffic is coming from, for general terms I only like USA traffic, however for specialised traffic ( ie expensive like; loans) I go after local traffic as there is less competition, local for me means .com.au

If your getting 0-5% click thru then this is the area I would look at the most, way more so than how much I'm making per click.

Also if you have more than one ad on a page the first lot of terms displayed will have the highest cost per click, the next set of AD's show will have less and so on.

Many many times I have seen webmasters who have there pages setup so the 2nd or 3rd group of banners get the most clicks, with AdSense your just stealing money out of your own wallet by doing this. One per page fold is enough.

Very interesting post BaldBastard, I had never heard that before. Would you consider your CTR to be above average ? I don't hear of many even close to that high with adsense.

Hosting keywords are very good to me. 10c-50c per click. 3-5%CTR
You can't get "get more expensive ads" but if you have site about paper clicks are low, change to hosting and you going to get "get more expensive ads".
