information site for computer newbies
i run a site where i write articles and flash-based resources for it - which takes up an incredible amount of time. the information is given away for free because i wanted to use it as an advert for my services.
the captive audience of the site are professionals in a specific field, but when putting up notices of new articles/resources being written etc which i occasionally do on a specific forum - some ppl bitch "they already know the info" therefore it's no good. the insults fly that i know nothing blah blah. the site is aimed at ppl with a low computer ability who want to know more, so obviuosly the info is basic. i'm starting to get really fed up of (skilled) ppl bitching they already know the info, and, i started writing this thread with the notion, should i drop the site altogether and concentrate on other things. i'm now split between two minds, should i drop it altogether (it gets about 300 impressions a day), or, how else could i promote this site to computer newbies? thanks |

I think the idea is good.
For the unwanted message u could do a validation of the info in your email so, u read before posting it. It is time consuming but it is something to avoid the situation. U need to write your articles and be clear that they are for newbies, but make them intresting as the same way so "experienced" users dont fuck around and make good comments. I am thinking in a lot more stuff about this, can we view the site u are talking about? |
