Question about using press releases for sticky content on your site...

I have a mainstream website that I created mainly to give my friends and family something to do. I installed a CMS, setup a adwords account, got a couple other affiliate programs, and spent a lot of time on this project. Everyone was so into it for about two months and now the site is just dead. And I know people aren't becoming members to it because It hasn't been updated since December of last year. But, it does get traffic, and I do not want to let my hard work go to waste.

The plan was not for me to update it all the time. The plan was for me to set it up and give my partners an outlet to be creative. Now that they aren't using it, I'm thinking about using press releases as news stories for the main page of the site. I thought of this because I am not a talented writer, and I don't care to learn to be a better writer, and I don't want to spend the time writing.

So, I found a good source for getting press releases that actually are based around the topic of my website. My question is...

Is it OK to just copy and paste the info in the press releases and publish them to my site? I mean, that's why they're written in the first place right?! Also, do I publish the entire press release? They all follow the same basic format. They usually end with ###, then there is usually contact information after that. Should that info be published? Or is that meant to be left out, and placed there for me, as the publisher, to be able to contact them if I need to find out more information? What do you guys think about this idea?

As long as you keep intact the contact info they provide with the press release I would think you would be fine. Free publicity for them and that is what they wrote the PR for.
