how do i improve the values of adsense clicks?

i've just started a new site, slapped adsense on it, and when someone clicks on them, they are only worth about 9c and less?

the ads are near the top, so *should* be worth maximum value.

i have a reasonable amount of hits (600-ish) per day (it's only been up 1.5 days).

will it improve with the age of the site?

It has a lot to do with your site topic, and how many people are bidding on that topic. Obviously the more competition the higher per click.

I think my highest click was about $2.50 and that was for computer hardware (mostly RAM) ads showing.

Mojoman, whats the CTR on your site?

You can raise the CTR by choosing an other ad layout. There is some information on the google adsense blog: http://adsense.blogspot.com/

I have some sites with a CTR up to 15% with the 336x280 large rectangle banner fitted well within a page with links.

depends on traffic
9c a click is very very good if its jokes traffic but if its health insurance its shit/ the formula the more shit terms should have more traffic floating around kind of like TGP traffic, problem is its untargeted and the ad's shown are not likly to get a high ctr.

targeted traffic + targeted ads =$$$$$$

If your traffic was not looking at buying/ inquiring about products and services to begin with then don't expect to become and adsense millionaire.

yep - i've found myself blocking ads that have nothing to do with humor - like golf clubs and stuff. i think i'll just use this humor site as a springboard for other stuff.

now i'm just making mini sites on various topics,
