I am just about to get deeper in the mainstream and I launched my mainstream software website at:

you have site like definition from books... load quick, not so full of items and it is well organized.... just keep it updated with products...

Good color choices, good font family and size choice, easy to navigate.

Since you asked for critique,
I requested sitemap.xml(Google), urllist.txt(YaHoo) and robots.txt and found none.
I would also add the word "Home" in the menus in addition to having the "Software Products" index link
Most CC companies like to see a privacy policy link on the landing page.

I think this might be TMI (too much information) and may thwart possible sales.

Code:

Build a search engine "spider trap" by creating a free blog on Blogger.com or anywhere else.
Post links to the Web pages you want spidered inside your blog.
Invite the search engines spiders to crawl your blog.

Search Engines can't resist freshly updated content. Doing this should result in any Web page you want visited by the search engines and indexed, sometimes, in less than a few hours.

I have found by adding a link to your sitemap in the footer of every page that it gets crawled by all bots, not just Google.

mrbean well for now i will mainly focus on selling my software products on the site and try not to loose any traffic that came to the site to external sites and links. For the future when i grow up my traffic to the site, i will for sure try adsense to see how it will go for me on that site.
