If you want really good traffic to your blogs, here's another method I use...
I write a piece for my blog or portal, take the first 2 or 3 paragraphs, post it on a forum relating to the theme of my site, and put a link to the "rest of the story" and watch the vistors flow in. This method takes some time, but its long term traffic as forums usually rate higher in google than the pages themselves (in my experince)... __________________

You have to comment on some blog sites as well, that way the blog's frequent commenters will take notice of your site (especially if you say something worthwhile lol) or, if you have an article blog, publish it to several article sites and don't forget to make your resource box interesting.
