IMHO its sort of like asking a meat & potatoes guy who likes standard hardcore porn to explain to someone else how to market gay amputee midget creampie porn.

The pot smoking market is something unto itself. Its not just a bunch of stoners sitting around watching Teletubbies, its a whole a sub-culture. I personally wouldn't even know where to begin other than SEO.

I applaud him for attempting it, because its definately not a market I would want to tackle.

The site does not say that anywhere its targeted for " herb " webmasters or offer any advise for them directly, sure has the look though.

I picked up a few drops related sometime ago and found out selling herb products online is a very hard slog, use the wrong advertisers and your going to see some income loss as your accounts are canceled, use the right ones and your going to see some income loss as these kind of sponsors are up and down like a yo yo's, host it on US base servers like it is and there's more pain waiting for you, It's just one of those areas, very much like adult, so the income is dicey unless your pushing your own product, even doing things like using someone's rss feeds on your site can get people upset, there are many reasons why a lot of webmasters keep well clear of this area.

To make the site work something a long the lines of advising webmasters of the right direction to take when building sites in the niche might be the best angle to take I presume, but then you have to look at the traffic again " webmasters who build pot sites " you could do a webmaster resource site using exactly the same content he has and target any area, why pot? your limiting your income before you even start. You could compare it to adult I suppose, but this is the mainstream forum and he did say "geared towards mainstream WM's "

Quagmire posted that he thought " the comments were harsh and overly critical to the point of insulting " ( no they were my honest opinion ) and he " saw a lot of tearing down, and nothing to point him in the right direction. " ( I was pointing him in the right direction tearing down was part of that.... think about it )

McSpliff has 1000X the web design skills I'll ever have, if I can help nurture these skills and set him off in the right direction then as a mod I'm doing my job, so when he or anyone builds a webmaster resource site with a pot theme, I'm going to say " NO, Stop " that's not the way to make the best money.

To be honest i like the design (could be a good promo for a Dutch coffee shop) but i dont think it fits the content (affiliate marketing, PLR Black hat SEO) so i am not sure what your getting at and what your trying to achieve with this site.

I think you should first try to figure out what you want to do with it, if you want to make a weed site make it clear that it is a weed site and dont put up articles about affiliate/SEO stuff cus than your missing the point imho.

I get asked all the time to look at sites, when i tell the webmaster to post it on the newbie board they are kind of skiddish, they dont want blasted. I can understand this, but no webmaster that asks a for a site review should ever tell the reviewer to fuck off or fuck you, I wont stand for that. I seen this thread when it was first posted, i have a general rule not to be the first to give an opinion, I may mod the board but i dont want to be the only one giving opinions mine are in the middle if not last. But unless the thread has sat a while i try not to be first. I dont pay attention to who mods what or who is who at netpond unless your name is meat, aga, or haui. But everyone is equal on the newbie board, and it dont matter who is who, fuck you, or fuck off will not be tolerated by anyone. The first time you will get a special notice from me, the second time you will be sucking eggs at gfy. The newbie board is open to everyone and everyone has a right to say what they think when it comes to reviewing site, you have to give them all credit, they give an honest opinion, and thats what makes this board unique, you get honest answers, everyone may not like the answer they get, but if they take the time and look at there master piece they will see what other webmasters are saying. You asked and got an answer, dont be pissed at the answer you got. Enough said.

Ok... I got one of those PM's from the powers that be... yeah, I over reacted, but in my own defense:

A) I was drunk... a never ever thing to do
B) I wasn't looking to be toring down, but just some opinions
C) I apologize for being an arse about things, but I didn't find either of those comments helpful and seemed to come in a hurtful manner.

Once again, sorry to be an ass.

Now, I disagree about some points here. First off, I have had nothing but great experinces with selling bongs and pipes online. I'm making a nice amount per month off of my sponsors, and good traffic. Now, I've only been selling for about a year, so I haven't really seen any changes in my sponsors, they are pretty consistent.

As for the look of the site, there is a method behind my madness. The whole design was sprouted from a conversation from a good friend of mine that is a graphic designer/web developer. It was designed as a resource as well as a pseudo community for those involved in 420 sales. Yes, if I wanted a true "mainstream" resource, putting big pot leafs everywhere would be a dumb idea, but its not. Its a resource for pot smokers who sell bongs. I realize that is pretty niche and limiting, but its one of those sites I put up that I don't expect to make a cent. Why do it then? Cause I can :P

I wanted a site for me. Its built for me, it has the content I want to see, and I'm pretty happy with the results. I guess maybe I should have been a little more clear on what I wanted comments/critisims on.

It wasn't the concept of the site, but the layout, flow, text, links etc. Stuff that I may have missed while designing the site.

Anyhow, sorry to use such strong language and acting unsophisticated. That goes back to the old adage... never post while drinking.

Keep it in perspective to I'm 40 smoked a 1/2 ounce of weed a week for the past 20 years and fell in love with my wife when I found she had 5 pound under her bed, I go to Amsterdam every 2nd year IE its hard to find a bigger pot head, and I won't touch those sites online............. Really eh? I've found some descent response so far, for what I've wanted, which once again, was just a site to hang out on and learn a bit while having fun at the same time, if your into selling that market, which I know a few webmasters that really like the idea. I guess its just a fun site to put online, with no motive for profit.

When I want to make proffit I'll just put up www.netpondwebmasters.com (JK!!!)
