Ok say I want to make a site dedicated to everything I'm interested in...

I've acquired Dagwolf.com ; I want to make it a mainstream site dedicated to all my interests and hobbies: Computer-aided design and manufacturing, astronomy, literature, coffee and anything else I want to talk about.

Since I plan to sink a LOT of time into it and organize it into sections by topic, I also want to make a decent amount of money from it.

What's the best script for this? I need it search-engine friendly; organized by topic and subtopic.

Mediawiki? Wordpress? ... I really want to start out with the right script, it could be a pain to change later.

Im vote goes to Wordpress, it sure helps you alot and is very easy to manage... and of course, SE love it.

Ok, Joomla looks pretty popular, I'll check it out. I've used PHPNuke for other sites but I'm not sure how SE friendly it is.

Do you do a fair bit of pure html pages when you're building stuff? I've been in that habit since... well, since always. I wasn't sure if it was a bad move or not. I didn't really see any lack of show in the SEs because of it, so I just kept doing it.

Do the SEs give points or take points based on what type of scripting (if any) you use?

Plain HTML is fine for the search engines, maybe the best, but can be simulated with dynamic pages.

Joomla has a lot a security issues i would search for a CMS script that is not used by every Dick Tom and Harry.
A lot a servers are hacked due to the vulnerabilities of WP and Joomla
