Mainstream Free Hosting

If you had decent mainstream hosting for free would you signup?

Probably not, cause hosting isnt to expensive these days anyway and I like to have control over whats up there. Often free hosting is supported by ads and so in the end probably more expensive by loosing income then paid hosting.

Free hosting have some adventages in certain areas so I would use it but not for something important ...

I agree with the majority of posters above me here, Hosting is not that expensive and I do like to have most of the control, I wouldn't want others ads on my site that I didn't put there myself. But for some that are just playing around to see what can be done, or can't afford hosting right from the start it could be a very good idea.

No i would not touch it, freehosting is never free there are no things like a free lunch, somehowe you pay for it, most of the time with traffic your 404 or by ads on your sites.

I dont like hosting where i dont have 100% control $5- a month

Maybe for the same reasons adult freehosting is sometimes good, inbound links from ip ranges different from your own, but I can't say I've bothered to signup to geocities lately ...

ill try it for new and small projects and for this-i buy domain and i dont want to park it, just grab few articles, add some adsense and freehost it

I'd pass on the free hosting for mainstream - there's always a catch, and besides, paid hosting isn't that expensive any more, so why not lay down the cash? That way if something goes wrong, they can't counter with "Well, but you were getting it for free, so you have to be patient and we'll fix it when we have time."
