Over extending oneself can be as destructive to your plans as, well, having no plans at all. With the onset of spring and now, soon summer, I had ambitious plans to complete several outdoor projects, rehab projects, and other intense physical activities. Overambitious plans initially yielded fantastic results, but as time wore on, the strain took a toll on me. Lucky for me, with a bit of smarts and dictation software, not to mention some good friends, I've been able to actually get some work done in this field while I recuperate. The outcome could have been much worse, though. I could have cut myself off at the knees, not being able to generate any revenue while on my back. Realizing one's limitations is an integral part of planning as I learned so acutely this week. Can I build X number of blogs per week? Can I write X number of posts per week? How about my technical prowess: can I build a customized script and support it, without taking away too much time from other activities? It's all well and good to wish to take over the world, but when it comes to planning, make sure you don't take on too much and end up breaking your back.
