FHG or Not?

I read lots of people here on the pond who use FHG, and others who are opposed to a greater extent. I see a lot of the more experienced webmasters stay away from them on their sites. Can someone lay out the rationale for why to create your own galleries instead of using your sponsors?

I realize you have more control and keep the surfer on the site longer, but is there more to it with SEO or other reasons?

I use FHGs cause i'm too lazy to make my own but imho the reasons you should make your own if you have the time could be:
* they look fresh, if you use the same fhg everybody else does there's a real chance your visitor has seen it already
* you can seo it and add a little text and it will pull in some traffic by itself
* you can even submit it to TGPs if you like to make it by their rules
* you can place whatever ads you want on it, or come up with new ways to advertise, better text description, you own banners and such

My main reason for beeing careful with using TGP's is to not give away to much content.
You want to get the surfers interested and have them wanting more, with the only easy option of signing up to the paysite to get what they're looking for.

By flooding your site with FHG's you're giving away enough content for lots of people to be satisfied. Sure you might have an easier time getting bookmarkers and returning visitors, but most of them will just return for more free porn served by you.

Don't treat your surfers to enough material. But the balance is really hard.

I was thinking about the numbers of pictures. First, I started with 20, but I think it's a lot for TGPs, and for your own site too. I tried with 12 thumbs. Much TGP won't accept them. Now I'm triing with 16 thumbs, but I'm not sure how to serve the content. For example, if you download a photoset from your sponsor, you can use those pics, but the balance is a really problem. I'm triing not to show the "end" of the story, and the surfer might click the link and watch the ending at my sponsor's site.

That's what I was thinking today. It's not worth the time to create galleries for blogs. I'm gonna use FHGs, so the only thing I have to do is build traffic.

Oh, and instead of the long URLs use this piece of PHP code

im going to use FHGs on my blog, mixed with some very occasional hand written posts for SEO, not sure if this is the right way 2 splog lol

I think its coming together better. Do people only create tgps and mgps so that they can do gallery submissions, etc? I don't work in that area, just in blogs and static seo pages right now. Maybe that is why I don't understand why to create your own galleries, except for placing seod text into the pages.

Does anyone spend time creating their own galleries for blogs, and if so why?

Don't most sites that accept TGP submissions require that you only have a link to the sponsor you are promoting?

For a FAKE tgp, why not using the FHGs ?

Ooh I like that.. I think you're right. I've noticed there's 3 types of sites:

1) Website never gets updated.
2) Website gets frequent updates. (nice! I can keep up!)
3) Websites has too much content.

Yeah it's Free Hosted Galleries. Just learn some good english, pick up your dictionary if you're not american or british and write long and keyword-based posts including sponsor's link, and I think you'll fine.

You have to give them something... I often wonder your same questions though.. that's why I'm stuck doing FHG's

I'm worriing with FHGs a lil' bit cuz those have the whole story shown. For some surfers it's enough, but for blogs the best choice to use.
