there's a skim, i clicked on a top thumb, and got redirected to a parking page on one of them.
if you're going to use a script that skims, i would, take the top set of thumbs and ensure that they're not skimmed by hardcoding them, or, at least just the top row. they're going to get the most clicks, and so you should get them all
banners at the top - above the fold is giong to get the most attention. again if you're a technophobe, then hardcode one, but, i'd suggest that you get your head around something like openx - it really is very powerful.
also, if you're not going to count on repeat visitors - set up google analytics if you haven't already - then rather than losing clicks to skims, hardcode all the thumbs?
i'm sure you'll find that some thumbs get more clicks than others as they may be more appealing, so keep them, and get those clicks
