Here's what I have tried so far:
Smart FTP - favorite of the bunch but free trial ran out and decided to try others before re-installing. Filezilla - when I launch this it takes forever to load, almost as if its reading all the files on my hard drive. But once it does load its not bad. Firefox FTP plugin - not bad but after starting it displays the root directory of my domain. The other programs remember where I left off last which is more convienent. I plan to try CuteFTP and Flash FXP next. |

Smart FTP is free for personal users however, so minus the splashscreen at start, what trial are you speaking about?

I use Cute FTP. Why? Because it was that or wsftp back in the day. I chose CuteFTP because it looked pretty and now I'm used to it so there's no reason to change. (except FTP hangs a lot)
