dreamhost question?

I see that I can get my site stats from dreamhost but they ask for username and password, from the only the username and password that I know wont work, does anyone that hosts with dreamhost know how to solve this problem??? please. thanks

it has been a while since I hosted there, but I seem to remember, you have to set up stats on each domain and create the account that you log in with

ftp..? yeah I think I tried that though I typed in the username and password no luck I'll try it again but nothing was happening then. Not sure why

Go into the control panel and see the domains tab, it should tell you what user is set for that domain, in the users tab you can edit the password if you forgot it, but beware of changing it if you have scripts installed that use this password to access databases and the like

I'm not sure where I enter the password though, I see what your saying though, I'm in the webpanel and on the users section of it, do you mean go to edit and then just type in a password? will that work for the site stats username and password fields? also should there already be a username and password for the site stats field?? cause I'm trying everything that I know. no luck

You can edit the password for the user associated with the domain and that should let you into the stats, but this will change the valid password for any scripts you have installed such as wordpress, so beware (It's not a big deal in wp, just edit wp config with the new pass, but still)

alright, I just changed my PW for the CPU USER stats I think, but says change pending, cause it did not process when I tried right after, hopefully I did it right.

just tried it again , and its not working, everything else will work with the new password but not the stats page, DONT KNOW WHY...

the login is a cmbo of your names and the password they snet orignally which you can change afterward

Dreamhost is a horrible hosting company, and they are slow as fuck

Unless money is a serious issue I would look for a real host. You are just hurting your traffic by hosting with dreamhost.

the issue was solved real fast, but are you serious LB dreamhost will get me nowhere with my traffic?

I just don't get why everyone knocks dreamhost, I've never had any issues with them (serious ones) at all. Will I not be able to get traffic or something hosting with them?

You get what you pay for, and this couldn't be more true than with dreamhost.

The most recent people I have spoken to who have finally dropped dreamhost have reported an instant rise in traffic and sales.

The servers are over crammed, the quality of BW is low, the hardware is prone to breakdown constantly. Nothing is more important than your hosting, and while you can still make money with poor hosting it instantly puts you behind the mark.

If your poor hosting costs you even 1 sale a month, its too much.

sorry quick edit: but what LB even if my sites have been online 24/7 they've never been broken down. Is it still the factor of nothing reaching my traffic potentinal? cause I've never had any types of problems with them.

Jake .. your sites can be up 100% of the time, but still doesn't mean everyone can reach them. BW comes in all qualities, and in some regions your sites might be unavailable or very slow because of your hosts BW. Also if the machine you are sharing with others gets hit by a traffic spike all sites will suffer. Companies like DH throw a lot of people on the 1 machine and hope nobody goes nuts and burns too much bw or uses too much server load.

lol, ya know I've had no problems at all with dreamhost support replied back to me in no time sites are always up, you say terrible support but when I need support it has always been there within like 30 mins or less. I'm only concerned with what LB told me about traffic purposes but other than that I have nothing bad to say about dreamhost I really dont.

Yes, LB is probably right. But where to find a top notch host? Board recommended hosts tend to implode spectacularly. Dreamhost might be mediocre, but I'm reasonably sure they'll still be around next year, never mind next month.
