What camera(s) you are using?
I picked up a Nikon D60 about 2 weeks ago. I've only had time to go out and use it a few times, but plan on trying to learn as much as I can as well. I don't know if you subscribe to podcasts (they are free) or not through Itunes, but they have an abundance of information on digital photography. I've been soaking in as much as I can through those.

I'm being sorely tempted by the D700... enough I doubt I will buy any DX (digital format) lenses in the future. If I don't upgrade to full frame soon I will within two years. The D700 samples I saw had similar noise to my d70s if I used 1/10th of the ISO.... amazing, and without the severe premium of the D3.

Plus, of course, you get better skin tones and a better dynamic range with full frame, compared to the same ISO on a 1.5x cropped sensor. Plus better wide angle choices. And I have always liked shooting wide with shallow DOF, but DOF increases for the same view-angle lens when using a DX camera.

I did some math yesterday, and my D70, though it has depreciated 50% over 2 years, has saved me about $2500 in film and processing, comparing it to film... makes it much easier to justify buying a good body, photography has never been so cheap.

I recently picked up a Nikon D40 for myself. I don't need anything fancy, certainly no more megapixels than that, and about the only feature I wish it had that the newer cams have is the self cleaning sensor. I got myself an SB600 so I can take the flash off camera, and play around with a lot of light bouncing, etc. I haven't shot anything pro in years, and I've been so excited to play around with it.

The D40 got EXCELLENT reviews. I was originally going to get the D40 but the place I got my camera was having a big sale so I lucked out and got the D60 for about 50 bucks more. If it wasn't for the sale, I would be rolling with the D40 myself.

I am using a nikon D70 and learning how to use it. I have never had anything but a point and shoot before and I love all the options you have with the manual setting. I like being behind the camera as much as being in front of it.

Ya she does! I'm using a Canon XTI. Its very responsive, and I love the metering, but the flash is not so great.

I shoot with a cannon rebel these days, but I miss my old Casio QV3500. The color reproduction was amazing, and I've not been able to duplicate the macro functions of the casio, even with add on lenses.

Anyone ever try a Qv3500?

I'm now using a Nikon D300 backed up by a Nikon D90 for stills, and a Canon HV20 with my D90 for B-roll for video.

I might get a Canon 5D-MKII in a month or so once I see if I can deal with the 30p only for video... its video is CLEAN and SHARP, with all the low DOF and low light sensitivity of a modern full frame DSLR... if only they give it at least 25p... or maybe I can get over needing a cinematic look and just cope.

The D90's video is amazing, but it is not sharp and it has some pretty nasty artifacts. I've seen frame-grab samples from the 5DMKII's video that would be indistinguishable from still photos to most any casual observer.

Bes, Its strange with video..

When I used a cheaper Panasonic 3chip Id find the pic was sometimes sharper than a more expensive canon.

Obviously the canon is better but it does prove that quality can be given even by cheaper makes or designs sometimes.

Exactly what Osh & I were saying with the colour of still cameras.

Although I am thinking of switching over to the D700... the high ISO levels look great. Depends on how the Sony a900 handles. The price is right.
