htaccess to stop google?
Howdy,
How could i use .htaccess to prevent google and other SE from accessing a page? And would this be considered cloaking? -TJ __________________

I don't know why you would want to block Google, but if you did then just use a robot text, log into https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ and click on tools, click on robots txt and then click on block all robots or just specify Google and it will block them.

I could see the point of doing something like this if you have multiple cloned freesites. Probably only want one of them to be spidered. Is this what you have in mind TopJock?

So if i dig through my server access logs i won't find google looking at pages that where set to noindex by robots.txt for duplicate content reasons?
For link purpose i don't want google to see dup content at all. Not indexing is not enough. -TJ __________________

From what I've been reading at G, it seems to me that what you wnat to do should be available via the robots.txt I have same thing happening with mirrored age sthat I don't want listed so I've been doing some noob reading here ---> How do I use a robots.txt file to control access to my site?
