New Alexa Ranking System

I was just looking at a few of the stats for my sites and noticed a big change on one site, then I read on Alexa they have changed the ranking system. Looking at it the new system looks much better than the old one because its not relying on purely traffic.

I know lots of people think Alexa rank is rubbish, if that's the case no need to comment in this thread with stupid comments like Alexa means nothing

I was just wondering has anyone else noticed some big changes, one of my sites jumped quite substantially, which considering its Pagerank 5 it didn't have that high of an Alexa ranking in the past, it does now though.

thats right, a new system wherein rankings are now based on “multiple sources of data” rather than just the Alexa Toolbar it means they do a new source of data how they rank sites.

Yea, mine jumped 200k positions overnight, from 600k to 400k.... I was slightly giddy about it... Ok, I did a little dance

My ranks all fall down to higher rankings :/

My rankings fell a little.

As for alexa being garbage, I hear it a lot, but its a useful tool to get a ballpark idea about a site that you don't suspect is being manipulated.

A couple of my big sites dropped down, one a fair bit but its a new site with lots of traffic so no real ranking info so it should have dropped down if rankings are to mean anything.

A few increased but most are about the same.

Where do they get their stats from? It says more traffic sources... but where?

Um some of my sites don't have any data at all, guess they're still migrating to the new system...
