Question: How-to properly interlink a network

hello fellow ponders'

i have a network of sites linked together by a common "network sites" header. what are the SE negatives of doing that, if any?

i read somewhere last night that you should use different/similiar keywords for the link text on each site..

for those of you with sites "networked/linked", let me know what you think.
