Should google keyword tool be used in selecting keywords for SE's?

Should google keyword tool be used in selecting keywords for SE's?

The keyword tools gives you information on ads not search engine results.

So you have wordtracker showing a keyword havin 3000 hits but in google ads keywords tool you get this value reflected but in June - 'no data'

seobook and wordtracker show high volume for a keywords but google does not reflect that in last months traffic.

I believe that google keyowrds tool is not good, since it is based on adwords traffic.

Let me know your thoughts.

I use free wordtracker tool, like their number stats more than Google traffic volume tool.

i think you've answered your own question..

here's a tip, if you want to find a good source of keywords that may be of use for your SEO.. goto places where people put in "keywords/keyword phrases", and where those entries are displayed as "hints" for better searches
