Incoming PR 6-7
If you have a brand new site with PR0 and no links, and you get 1 incoming link from a PR 6 or 7 site, will this give you a major boost in the search engines??
what kind of PR can you expect to get for your site from this 1 link? |

Also your internal linking can raise the PageRank of your site. I've done sites without incoming links starting with a PR4. Just use 30-50 text links including a good title tag for your menus.

it can help with PR , but that wont give alot of boost in ranking for keywords

It may help a little, but, actually, it may make it worse for you. Google may consider it unnatural for your new PR0 site to get a link from PR7 and take it as aggresive optimization, which is not any sort of natural link exchange. So as a penalty your site will get sandboxed and you won't get any progress in SE rankings for some 6 months or even a year. I'd never link to my PR0 from any PR6 or 7. If you have any chance of getting that PR7 link, wait till the next PR update to get some PR for your site and then link from PR7 to it.
The site development should look natural. Google should never know you're optimzing aggresively. __________________

Yahuen i don't think it can harm in any way ,besides there is nothing wrong of good incoming links, Google will not consider those links relevant anyway for a few month to see if they stay or not, and thats enough time to get more links from other site.
besides i wouldn't pay to much attention to the green light on toolbar its far from showing the real rank but that just my own opinion __________________

How much PR you will get from that PR 7 site depends on how many outgoing links the site you are linked from has. If it has 2 links, then you get it like this PR = 0.15 + 0.85 * 6/2 = 2.7. But this site probably doesn't have just 2 outgoing links. Actually this formula may not work like it used to before. Links from sites that have nothing to do with your site will not probably give you PR at all.
Anyway, what counts is lot of links pointing to you from sites with similar content that you have. __________________
