We have unfortunately had a few netponders getting ripped off with bought links and bought traffic / spots.

Its hard to protect against shady traffic or link deals, but before buying traffic/spots make sure you check the details of the agreement, and of course never shy away from asking for references. This is especially important for people with no real presence or reputation on netpond.

-Does the deal seem too good to be true ... it probably is!
-Do you know where the traffic is coming from ?
-Can you get a sample of the traffic before parting with your cash ?
-Have others had negative experiences with the person ?

When you buy traffic its at your risk, and you really should try to deal with people you know or companies with a trusted presence. Netpond is being flooded with scammers and shady marketers at the moment so be careful and do your research before jumping into traffic/link deals

For lifetime links also make sure its not just for the lifetime of the site while they own it, your links being dumped a few weeks later when they sell their sites. A lot of that has been happening.

Your only guarantee against that, if there even is one, is the seller's good rep. Goes back to the main point in the post - check out the seller and their reputation here on Netpond and ask for references.

I'm always sceptic about new guys/companies coming in with new "great" deals and always try to pick only well known and reputable guys/companies for such a services...

i am writing in regards to the (permanent, life-time) link sales.. as i have been recently promoting such offers to help out with some immediate $$$ needs.

if a seller is offering paid (permanent, life-time), and then turns-around the next week and sells that website or websites, that is without question an out-right shady business move.

a question, how can anyone safe-guard against the removal of a (link-trade/purchase) post the sale of any website?

we operate in an e-economy where deals are not actually closed by written legal-binding contracts? there is no way to force the purchaser of the website to keep existing link spots/trades.

as you wrote, performing some due-diligence on the seller is necessary and then you leave it to the purchaser discretion... that's all we have.

Call me naief, but I like to believe that most of the webmasters here on the pond are good people. That's why I come here!
Ok, there are some shady folk around, here also, but it's my experience that doing business with ponders is always good, I name a few: SilentWhispers, ABE, AutumnSeave, lilpixie, Drew78, and there are more I've done business with here on the pond and all are good people.

1 bad experience (which I shall not name) out several is not to bad!

Just search the forums and you can pick out who's to be trusted...

Why dont you create a sticky that contains a list of websites and their contacts that sell links and traffic that "Can be trusted".
Kinda simple right?
