Great tutorial, thanks. Like others, I mix splogging and blogging for best results. I get nice SE traffic on the splogs as well. It takes about the same amount of time to make a splog as a blog post, so I think the ratio of time/$$$ is worth it.

I agree with your SEO analysis about the backlinks too. You DON'T need thousands of backlinks for most key terms. And whatever you do, build your links gradually. While on the topic, a couple of SE related questions. I know your mathematical inclination so with any lucky, maybe you tested these

1. Do you insist on the same string of text for backlinks, or do you use varied ones?

2. Do you optimize for targetted key phrases per blog or per post? Or do you just let if flow and catch the drifts?

When in doubt my advise is to think Google is as smart as a human and think "Would he finds it suspicious if <insert suggestion here>".

Would it look suspicious (ie: non-organic) if a site had 100 backlinks, all with the exact name anchor string?

You don't need shitload of traffic either. One of my very niche blogs has at tops 300 hits from Google daily, and makes me over $500/month. Key is addictive texts I guess, else why would they sign up at 1-99 rate for over 5 months now.

So another suggestion - go niche! Everyone sells big tits, blowjobs, anal... all this stuff is cool and it sells, but due to high competition its not easy to for a noob to start in these niches.
It's a bit easier to rank higher for more obscure niches, and even though traffic is small, it could be very productive and bring decent $$!

As I said: Yes, I know some people who are doing the opposite of what I said in my tutorial and yet are making good money (or at least pretend they do :-) ).

I do know there are more than one way to be successful, and I only explained what's working for me.
