So, you want to make some High Quality thumbs but you do not know how?! Ok...I will show you...get ready to make your biz better!!!
Let's start...We will use this photo, which one I borrow from http://thumboom.com/samples.html ... I hobe that will not be a problem...still this is only for education ![]() Ok, download this photo: ![]() Now, opet it in PS. First of all you need to "Despeckle" this photo...so go to Filter/Noise/Despeckle and do that two times. Ok after that go to Image/Adjustments and click on Auto Level and Auto Colour. Ok now we can resize our picture, we need thumb right? Ok, so go to Image/Image size and put there something like this:![]() Ok, now when we have our thumb lets move to the next step. Click on Image/Adjustments/Brightness/Contrast and put there 30 for Brightness and 30 for Contrast. Ok, now we need to sharpen some edges so click on Filter/Sharpen/Sharpen Edges Now click on Image/Adjustments/Curves and click one on that line and put there 80 for input and 110 for output, like this: ![]() Ok, when you do that click on Image/Adjustments/Colour Balance and put 20 for Cyan, 15 for Magenta and 10 for Yellow. DO THIS ON EVERY TONE BALANCE (shadows, midtones and highlights). Ok, final step, click on Image/Adjustments/Match Color and put 60 for Luminance, 110 for Color Intensity and 100 for Fade...DON'T FORGET TO CHECK Naturalize FIELD!!! If you follow all this steps then you need to have something like this for your final product: ![]() Ok...samples: ![]() ![]() Enjoy ![]() __________________

wow this thread is excellent, I'll be trying these tutorials out over the next few days. Nice one!
One thing I've always wondered about...and I'm guessing it's probably really easy, on galleries how do you make the shadows appear behind thumbs or make dashed lines around them? |

Rigrunner, dashed lines are really simple.. try using this code on your images:
< img src="thumb1.jpg" style="border: 1px dashed #colour;" alt="description" /> (Note, remove the space between "<" and "img" for the real code) For the shadow, you will have to add to the image itself |

)And when we talk about dashed lines (if you meen what I meen ), I do that in DreamWeaver...just click on picture and set Border (in your Properties menu) on 1 or 2 or how do you want... that's it ![]() __________________

heh , knew it was bound to be easy! Thanks a lot.
I've just tried the thumbs tutorial but I'm using photoshop 7 and there doesn't seem to me 'match color' in the adjustments menu (only replace colour and selective colour), is there another way I can do whatever that function does? |

Have to say again that this is an incredible thread!! Cheers to all who have contributed... i hope to as well once i get this PS under my control.
Thought i would put out another request for a tut too... ... i would like to understand the image/mapping thing so i can have links inbedded into the images and they change under the mouse over kind of thing. i hope that made sense. Cheers! __________________

Hi Goodspirit... thanx for asking... i can explain.
its usually in the form of a banner. but it is not a table, it is just text in a jpg. when the mouse is over the text, the text may change colour (another image shown i imagine). if you click on the text it is a link. i tried to find an example but could not. i don't see it too often but it is a real nice touch to a page. i will continue to look for an example. i think this might also be called slicing??? Cheers __________________

Ooooooo that...well that's easy (Of course if you use DreamWeaver). Just open new HTML and click on Image/Image Objects/Rollover Image and fill that fields
That's it!__________________
