Thanks a lot for the clarification. I think I'll just get started building a sizable batch of SE sites and begin with some modest linking between my own sites (using three hosts at the moment, might add a few more) and contact other sites for trades as I go along.

My main worry has been the volume question - sending a bunch of webmasters a mail every month or two saying something like "would you be interested in trading with these new 187 sites of mine..."

always seemed so ridiculous to me, that I more or less gave up on any kind of heavy volume site building and link trading.

Looks like it's time to change strategy. What the hell, even in worst case scenario I might end up with large bunch of sites that may sit there with very little traffic for months, but at least they'll be there, ready to improve when I manage to get trades going over time.

I've run into a bit of a dead end lately in terms of traffic. My total daily sponsor hits have actually gone way down over the last six months, but fortunately it's the crappy traffic I've lost (Google Images mostly) so my ratios are better than ever.
I Don't think I should expect the overall ratio to go much lower though, so unless I want to stay at the same income forever it's time for some serious traffic building initiatives

Seriously mate there are simply so so so many new programs coming out, mostly from guys with a few $k spare who think ... hey this is my road to riches .... that there is no way all of them can survive. You will end up blowing thousands and thousands of $ trying to get 30 affiliates, of which only 5 will send traffic and maybe 1-2 will make some sales for you.

There aren't enough affiliates to go around, and they all find themselves begging submitters for 1-2 sales a month.

the adult online industry is badly top heavy and its gonna topple. Good time to be an affiliate with traffic ... traffic is king especially nowdays

I make significantly more with significantly less effor as an affiliate

I unfortunately don't really have a plan or "schedule" for every day.. it changes daily depending on what needs doing both for Titanbucks and for my individual work but it's definitely something everyone should have!

Finally managed to read it all through, amazing thread. Funny, it is first time when what I'm doing starts to make sense. I mean, I always hear do 3 TGP galleries and 1 freesite per day and I'm always like.. "Where the hell do I take the time to make portals and other stuff then?!" Sometimes some people are so strict with saying you gotta do only that to be successful! Well I tried to be good apprentice and follow that but at some point I still started doing lot less freesites and galleries to do massive amounts of SEO sites. Actually I incorporate SEO to all the text I write on my sites and I'm already seeing results. I can't even imagine what starts happening when I do this for a year.

What I'm trying to say is that, yes this is all numbers game, there are no rights and wrong, unless numbers prove it to be something. Bussiness plan is a must be.

Absolutely, there are many many different methods to building your income and business. The 2-3 galleries a day one is just the route most newbies take because they really like to see the numbers ticking over and lots and lots of traffic. Once they realise that the only numbers that matter are the numbers on the checks then they start branching out.

But thats only one method. Many many different ways of making money in this industry.

Actually - FYI for y'all - in BB we're starting another SEO project which will deal with a lot of the long term stuff LB was talking about in this thread. He mentioned we'll get it underway in about 2 weeks. Those who remember the last project (esp. those who put a decent effort in) would remember making at least a few sales from it. I personally made a whole heap of sales from the one portal site that I included.

I haven't done a lot of large portal sites but the ones I have done, and built up over the years (my first was in 2003) have made me some good sales... so it's definitely worth having a look at!

The best thing, IMO, about portals - and basically any other site excl. galleries, freesites etc (ie.. those that have specific rules you need to follow to "submit" them) is that you can let your imagination run on the whole subject, approach, layout - EVERYTHING!!

i start my trial at netpond follow LB, and i have some sales with free gallery building. now i want start to try buy ads from some great LL.

Buying ads from Linklists ??

I'm not sure LL's sell advertising space, but if they did I sure as hell would be buying as much advert inventory as I could get my hands on!

I do really well on LL traffic!

Or did you mean paid submits ?

I baught one of the sites from the old project and have made some nice sales with it after a good tweak
and i will defenetly be in on the next one
